The door draft is composed of an aluminium extrude and plastic bristles. Initially I observed that doors accidently cleaned the floor when being opened and closed. Sticking these onto a wooden handle, I later realised I could manipulate these brushes by using a swiss bender to curve the aluminium.
The outcomes of bending the drafts were constrained by the malleability of the aluminium. Bends with too tight a radius would tear the extrude open, so a minimum diameter of 40mm dictated the designs.
Door drafts come in a range of bristle lengths depending on the type of door, as do brushes depending on the brush. The pairing of these two themes led to the three different brushes being produced.
